Funny Christmas Ornaments for Adults, Friends and Coworkers
An ornament is one of the few gifts that comes back every year. Every December, when the box of decorations comes out, the person you gave it to sees it again. A funny one gets a laugh each time it goes on the tree.
These five ornaments are new in our shop for the holidays. Each one is a round ceramic ornament with a gold hanging string, printed with a retro illustrated animal. They cost $9.49 each, which fits most office gift-exchange limits (shipping is added at checkout, so check the total).
For the cat person
A tuxedo cat tangled in garland, with ornaments rolling away, under the words "Undecorating In Progress." Anyone who has put up a tree with a cat in the house will recognize this one.
For the person who guards the good decorations
A stern hen and a clear message: "Don't Touch The Good Ornaments." It's for the family member who hangs the fragile, handed-down ornaments themselves, or for anyone who keeps backyard chickens.
For the friend who's always cold
A penguin wearing every scarf it owns. It's more of a winter design than a Christmas one, so it suits almost anyone, including coworkers whose holidays you don't know.
For fans of odd animals
A possum hanging upside down from a branch, labeled "Live Ornament." It's a little strange, and that's why it works for a white elephant or ornament swap.
For the dog person
A pug squeezed into a striped stocking: "Fits In The Stocking. Mostly." It's an easy pick for any pug owner, or anyone whose dog thinks every gift is for them.
Ornament exchange tips
- At work: funny animals are safer than jokes about the job, age or politics. The penguin and the hen are the most neutral.
- With friends: match the ornament to their pet. Cat, pug and chicken people tend to love seeing their animal on the tree.
- Make it a set: the cat, hen, penguin and pug designs also come as matching mugs. See our funny Christmas mugs.
- For an in-person swap: ship it to yourself so you can wrap it.
Want a matching set?
Most of these designs also come on other gifts, if you want to pair an ornament with something bigger:
- Cat: tee, sweatshirt and mug.
- Hen: stocking, fleece blanket, tee, sweatshirt and mug.
- Penguin: tee, sweatshirt and mug.
- Possum: stocking and tee.
- Pug: stocking, tee, sweatshirt and mug.
When to order for Christmas
Every ornament is printed after you order it. That takes 2–7 business days, plus carrier time. To have it by Christmas (Friday, December 25), order by about December 7 (a suggestion, not a guarantee). If your office party or ornament exchange is earlier in December, count back from that date instead. If you're giving one for Hanukkah (starting Friday, December 4), order by about November 16.

Order-by suggestions (not guarantees): for Thanksgiving (Thu, Nov 26, 2026), order by about Nov 9 to be safe. For the first night of Hanukkah (Fri, Dec 4, 2026), order by about Nov 16. For Christmas (Fri, Dec 25), order by about Dec 7. Carriers get slower in December, so earlier is better.
