Funny Christmas Gifts for Cat Lovers (Plus Hanukkah and Thanksgiving Picks)
Cat people tend to get the same gifts every year: a cat calendar, a cat-shaped something, a card with a cat on it. If the cat lover on your list has a sense of humor, a gift that shows what cats actually do around the holidays usually lands better. Cats knock things off the tree, guard the food and treat every holiday tradition as a toy.
Below are the cat designs in our shop. They span three holidays, so you can find one for Christmas, Hanukkah or Thanksgiving, or for a cat lover who celebrates more than one. All of them use the same retro illustrated style. The mugs are 11 oz ceramic. The tees are printed on Comfort Colors 1717, a heavier garment-dyed cotton tee with a relaxed fit.
For Christmas
A black and white cat tangled in garland, with ornaments rolling away, under the words "Undecorating In Progress." Anyone who has put up a tree with a cat in the house knows the tree gets taken apart one ornament at a time. Because it's about the end of the season too, it also works as a late gift or a New Year's swap.
The same tuxedo cat on a Comfort Colors tee with a relaxed fit, for the cat person who wants to wear it to the holiday party.

Funny Cat Christmas Sweatshirt: Undecorating In Progress Tuxedo Cat Crewneck
The undecorating cat on a crewneck sweatshirt, a cozier pick for December.
The same design on a round ceramic ornament with a gold hanging string, so the cat can supervise from the tree itself. It's a small gift that comes back out every year.
For Hanukkah
A black cat pouncing on a spinning dreidel, with the words "It Spins, I Pounce." It's an easy pick for a cat owner who has watched their cat chase anything that moves across the table.
An orange cat sitting on top of a tall stack of latkes like it's in charge. A good fit for the person who does the frying every year, and whose cat supervises from the counter.
The same latke-stack cat on a mug. If you're not sure of someone's shirt size, this is the safer choice.
For Thanksgiving
A cat caught raiding the fridge late on Thanksgiving night. It's for anyone whose favorite part of the holiday is the leftover sandwich, and whose cat agrees. To have it by Thanksgiving, order early (see the dates below).
How to pick between a mug and a tee
- Not sure of their size? Pick a mug. There's nothing to guess.
- Buying for a coworker or Secret Santa? A mug stays under a $20 limit before shipping. Shipping is added at checkout, so check the total.
- Buying for a close friend or family member? A tee is more personal. Comfort Colors tees run close to true to size with a relaxed fit, so go up one size if they like it loose.
- Celebrating more than one holiday? Pair the Hanukkah cat tee with the Christmas cat mug.
Gift ideas by cat person
- The one whose cat wrecks the tree every year: the Undecorating In Progress cat mug.
- The dreidel champion with a cat: the It Spins, I Pounce tee.
- The family cook: the Latke Stack Supervisor tee or mug.
- The midnight snacker: the Leftovers Night Shift tee.
