Funny Possum Gifts for Christmas: Ornament, Stocking, Tees and a Sweatshirt
Possum fans are a loyal group. They love the animal for exactly the things other people find odd: the hissing, the playing dead and the general chaos. These gifts lean into that. There are two designs, both in our retro illustrated style.
- "Live Ornament": a possum hanging upside down from the Christmas tree like it belongs there.
- "Playing Dead Till Spring": a possum flat on its back with a little holiday cheer. It's a winter joke more than a Christmas one, so it works all season.
Everything is printed to order, so check the order-by dates at the bottom.
The live ornament possum
The obvious one: a possum ornament that is, itself, an ornament. It's round ceramic with a gold hanging cord, and it makes a good stocking stuffer or ornament-exchange gift.
The same possum on a Christmas stocking with a linen boot and a red and black plaid cuff. It's one size and roomy enough for plenty of small gifts. Spot clean only.
The live ornament possum on a Comfort Colors 1717 garment-dyed tee with a relaxed fit. It's a Christmas shirt for the person who'd rather be the possum in the tree than the one decorating it.
The playing-dead possum
A possum playing dead till spring, on a Comfort Colors 1717 garment-dyed tee. It's for anyone who would also like to lie down until March.
The same possum on a crewneck sweatshirt. It's a cozy pick for the friend who's always cold and fully committed to hibernating.
Picking the right gift
- Not sure of their size? The ornament and stocking have no sizes to guess.
- Under $20: the possum ornament, before shipping.
- A matching set: the live ornament possum on the ornament, stocking and tee all match.
- Christmas or all winter: "Live Ornament" is a Christmas joke. "Playing Dead Till Spring" can be worn through February.
- Shirts and sweatshirts: the fit is relaxed. Size up for a looser fit. The size picker on each product page shows every size, and larger sizes cost a bit more.
When to order
Everything here is printed after you order it. That takes 2–7 business days, plus carrier shipping time. To have it by Christmas (Friday, December 25), we suggest ordering by about December 7. That's a suggestion, not a guarantee. For an earlier party or gift exchange, order sooner. Carriers get slower in December, so earlier is better.
More critters: see our funny animal holiday gifts (the possum's friends, a cocoa frog and a raccoon tangled in lights), our funny Christmas ornaments and our funny gifts for cat lovers.
Order-by suggestions (not guarantees): for Thanksgiving (Thu, Nov 26, 2026), order by about Nov 9 to be safe. For the first night of Hanukkah (Fri, Dec 4, 2026), order by about Nov 16. For Christmas (Fri, Dec 25), order by about Dec 7. Carriers get slower in December, so earlier is better.
